Edward Smith

I’m Ed Smith, a Grass Valley and Nevada City Auto Accident Lawyer. Over the years, I’ve collected statistics over auto accidents in these twin cities.

The most dangerous intersections:

Between 2010 and the end of 2015, the most dangerous intersection in Nevada City has been SR 20 & SR 49 and Union Street. There have been 8 accidents at those intersections during that time period.

Additional dangerous intersections are Reward Street and Zion and Walrath Ave, and Zion (2 accidents each at both intersections).

In Grass Valley, amongst the most dangerous intersections during the above time period have been:

  • DORSEY DR & MAIN ST  8
  • DORSEY DR & MAIN ST & SIERRA COLLEGE DR     8
  • BRENTWOOD DR & MAIN ST       8
  • COLFAX AVE & FRONTAGE RD    7
  • MAIN ST & PRESLEY WAY              6
  • CENTENNIAL DR & IDAHO MARYLAND RD             6
  • AUBURN ST & COLFAX AVE & NEAL ST    5
  • MILL ST & NEAL ST           5
  • IDAHO MARYLAND RD & SPRING HILL DR              5
  • AUBURN ST & VILLAGE WAY 4

One reason to keep track of dangerous intersections is that a lot of actions at an intersection may be a sign that that road or intersection was improperly designed by the State of County.

During the period from 2010 thru 2015, there have also been  13 Fatal Accidents and 15 Accidents involving pedestrians. The most dangerous day for accidents in this area is Wednesday with the least dangerous day of the week being Monday.

An experienced Personal Injury lawyer will have access to statistics in every jurisdiction in which he practices. The inferences from these statistics can be very useful in successfully pursuing a personal injury lawsuit.
