Walerga Road Intersection Accident Causes Injuries

A negligent driver was involved in an injury accident in North Highlands on March 13 and then fled the scene. The accident involved a red pickup truck, Toyota Camry, and an additional vehicle when they collided around 12:35 p.m. at Walerga Road and Elkhorn Boulevard. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) incident report, the red pickup left the scene of the accident. It was reported as having fog lights on the top.

Two People Injured in Hit-and-Run Accident

Sacramento Fire Department emergency responders arrived at the scene to assess injuries. Two patients were transported to a hospital for additional assessment and treatment. The roadway was reported as clear around 1:15 p.m. The accident is under investigation by the CHP to locate the hit-and-run driver and determine how the collision happened.

How a Hit-and-Run Driver Is Located

My law office is experienced in locating fleeing drivers and has been successful in many cases. By locating the driver, their insurance company can be held responsible for accident injuries, or the case can be taken to court. The reason we are successful lies with our investigators. Some of the areas they hunt for evidence to find the hit-and-run driver include:

  • The investigators go right away to the scene of the negligent driver who fled the accident to look for evidence to locate the vehicle.
  • Accident witnesses are interviewed. In many cases, a witness saw the negligent driver flee the scene and can describe the vehicle and, in some cases, the motorist. Even recalling a few of the numbers on the license plate is helpful.
  • The accident reconstruction team goes to work to recreate the collision. This includes photographing the scene and looking for evidence such as paint chips from the vehicle of the negligent driver and pieces of metal to identify the make and model of the car.
  • The police report is checked for additional clues and to ensure that it is accurate.
  • Surveillance cameras mounted at traffic lights are examined to see if the accident was captured on video. If it was, that evidence can be subpoenaed to prove the identity of the negligent driver and his/her vehicle.

Once the evidence is compiled, our injury lawyers use it to construct a robust case that benefits our client’s claim for compensation.

Insurance to Pay for Accident Injuries

When drivers elect to choose auto insurance, they are offered an add-on policy that covers uninsured/underinsured drivers. Many choose this add-on because there are a high number of motorists who are uninsured or underinsured in California. This policy can be used by an injured party to cover their medical and other expenses associated with the crash caused by the negligent driver. In addition, it covers bicyclists, pedestrians, passengers in the vehicle, and others.

If it turns out the injured motorist does not have this type of insurance, but another household member does, they can use that to cover their accident injuries. Using an injury attorney to help negotiate the amount is helpful to obtain the maximum. The insurance rates remain unaffected and do not go up if the policy is used.
