One Injured in Napa Head-On Car Accident

A recent head-on auto accident in Napa left one individual with moderate to major injuries.

Accident Information

According to Napa City Fire, the collision occurred on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, along Silverado Trail at approximately 9:25 a.m. Reports indicate that a Honda Accord and pickup truck had been driving in opposite directions along the highway just south of the intersection of Hagen Road when they collided with each other.

After the initial impact, the vehicles eventually came to a rest in the northbound lanes of Silverado Trail, with the Honda pushed up against an embankment on the side of the road and the pickup pressed against the Honda.

Firefighters told reporters that they believe one of the two vehicles veered out of its lane and crossed the center divider before colliding head-on with the other. Authorities are speculating that this may have happened because of a combination of a rain-slickened road and vehicle speed.

Response

A woman who had been an occupant of the Honda was extricated by responders from her wrecked vehicle. After extrication, medical officials determined that she had sustained serious injuries and had her transported via ground ambulance to the Queen of the Valley hospital. Exactly how the woman was injured has not yet been reported.

Reports indicate that the driver of the pickup did not sustain any injuries during the crash. Additionally, no other people or vehicles have been reported as involved in this accident.

Traffic and Cleanup

Southbound lanes of Hagen Road and Silverado trail, as well as northbound lanes at Stonecrest Drive, were temporarily blocked while officers conducted a preliminary investigation and work crews removed debris from the roadway. Cleanup reportedly caused significant traffic backups on the major roadway.
