Napa Firefighters Extract Crash Victim

I’m Ed Smith, a Napa car accident lawyer. A Napa a driver was hospitalized after a car accident on Highway 29. According to officials, the accident took place between First Street and Imola Avenue on the northbound side of the highway just before 6:45 a.m.

Accident Details

Napa City Fire Department reported that the accident occurred when the driver lost control of his car and veered into the center of the highway and collided with the median guard rail. The collision caused the vehicle to roll over two lanes of southbound traffic. The rolling vehicle finally came to a stop in the bushes on the side of the road as the result of crashing into a tree.

Response and Extrication

The California Highway Patrol (CHP), Napa City Police Department, and Napa City Fire Department all responded to the incident. When they arrived, responders found that the driver was trapped inside of the wrecked car. Firefighters removed the doors from the car using the Jaws of Life in order to extricate the driver.

Resulting Injuries

After being removed from the damaged vehicle, the driver was put into an ambulance and taken to the Queen of the Valley Medical Center for treatment of what medical officials reported to be only moderate injuries. The exact nature of the injuries that the driver sustained have not yet been reported to the public, but the injured man is expected to recover fully.

Possible Causes

No other vehicles were involved in the crash and authorities have not stated whether or not they believe the accident to have been caused by alcohol and/or drugs. The identity of the driver has also not been reported to the public by any official agency. Possible contributing factors to the accident could include distracted driving, defective car parts, road rage, dangerous road conditions, and more.

Brain Injuries

After accidents such as this, one should be extremely alert to the symptoms of brain injury. Brain injury isn’t always immediately apparent after an accident occurs, and it doesn’t necessarily take a major accident to cause lasting damage to the brain. However, as bleeding in the brain progresses, the injury can go from unnoticeable to life-threatening in only a few short hours.

Important symptoms to look out for if you suspect a brain injury are nausea, headache, and confusion. If you notice any of these symptoms after receiving an impact to the head after being involved in a car accident, it is important to seek medical help immediately. If left unchecked, a hemorrhaged brain can cause areas that control vital functions of the body to shut down completely.
