Solo-Vehicle Collision in Napa Occurs at Third Avenue Intersection

On July 30, a single-vehicle crash injured four people and sent them to the hospital. The accident happened at the Third Avenue intersection with Coombsville Road around 3:13 p.m. when a Honda carrying five people crashed into a utility pole, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Three of those with injuries were taken by ground transportation to Napa’s Queen of the Valley Medical Center.

One Injured Person Airlifted for Medical Care

The fourth injured party was taken by air to Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. Area motorists were told to avoid the intersection as an investigation was conducted by the CHP traffic accident unit.

Injuries to Passengers in a Solo-Vehicle Collision

A solo-vehicle collision can result in injuries if the driver was negligent. An accident caused by the motorist would be the driver’s responsibility. The passenger may be entitled to compensation for the cost of their medical expenses and other financial losses resulting from being unable to work if they are injured in the vehicle due to the negligence of the driver or another outside entity. In addition, pain and suffering should be compensated.

Getting Compensation for a Solo-Vehicle Collision Injury

If you are injured in a California accident, you may be able to recover compensation for the following:

  • Medical costs: Medical expenses can include actual and future medical costs such as hospital bills, surgeries, medications, rehabilitative treatment, and any required support devices or home renovations related to the accident.
  • Wages: If your injury from the accident prevented you from working and caused financial loss, you may be able to recover lost wages.
  • Earning capacity: Injuries that result in impairment or permanent disability may require compensation for loss of earning capacity. Disability income is calculated by determining how much income will be lost because of the impairment and is calculated into the settlement.
  • Pain and suffering: In the event of an accident, you may seek compensation for physical pain and suffering, including permanent scarring, disfigurement, and mental anguish caused by the accident.
  • Punitive damages: A defendant may be liable for punitive damages if they commit gross negligence or intentional misconduct. These damages are intended to punish the defendant and deter future similar behavior.

A solo-vehicle collision in California can result in serious injuries, so seek legal counsel immediately to discuss your rights to compensation.

You can seek legal advice from an accident attorney about what recoverable damages are available in your case. In addition to guiding you through the legal process of filing a claim and seeking maximum compensation, they will also assist you in filing your claim.

A lawyer should have these attributes when seeking one to help them with their case, according to Ed Smith in the video below:
