Head Injury Reported in Sacramento I-80 Collision Involving Multiple Vehicles

A multiple-vehicle crash in Sacramento on December 8 caused an injury to at least one person. The collision, which occurred shortly before 4:00 in the afternoon, happened along westbound Interstate 80 just east of State Route 51. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) report said that it involved a semi-truck and two to three other vehicles, which closed down the number four and five lanes.

Investigation Being Conducted Into Multiple-Vehicle Crash

Emergency responders with the Sacramento Fire Department arrived at the scene to treat those who were injured in the multiple-vehicle crash. One patient was reported as being transported to a nearby hospital for the treatment of a head injury. The incident is under investigation by the CHP to find out how the accident happened and to assign fault.

Causes of a Multiple-Vehicle Crash

An accident involving multiple vehicles is difficult to avoid when it starts with two colliding cars on a highway. Motorists who are behind the initial collision are usually traveling at higher speeds, and if they slow down much or stop will be rear-ended. In addition, there is simply nowhere to go to avoid becoming involved in a highway crash because of heavy congestion.

Head Injuries in a Traffic Accident

Head trauma can be among the most serious types of injuries in a traffic accident. Traumatic brain injuries can range from concussions to life-threatening events. In addition, not all brain injuries present symptoms right away because of the shock of the accident. This is why it is so important for any head injury to be checked right away, either at a hospital or by the family physician.

Hospitalization for Head Trauma

If a head injury is serious, it can lead to extensive hospitalization and treatment. This also means rising medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering. If you suffered a head injury in a traffic accident, having legal counsel is important to obtain the justice you seek and be reimbursed for your financial losses.

Getting Legal Advice Following a Multiple-Vehicle Accident

When injuries occur following a collision, the people involved often consult with a personal injury attorney. Because an accident happens so quickly, it takes experienced help to determine how it occurred and who is to blame for those injuries. In the meantime, an injured person may be facing long-term hospitalization, expensive tests, possible surgery, and a recuperative period while away from work.

What Our Investigators Do

Our investigators have determined fault in many accidents over the years, and we have helped many people obtain the compensation they deserve. Gathering the evidence necessary to support a client’s injury claim is crucial to support their case. The following is performed:

  • Investigators review the report by the police to look for mistakes and interview witnesses to the multiple-vehicle crash.
  • Accident reconstruction is an important part of an investigation. It can illustrate clearly how the multiple-vehicle crash occurred and show who was at fault. This type of evidence is used both in court and by insurance companies.
  • Road and traffic surveillance cameras are checked to see if film footage exists of the accident.
