San Juan Avenue Accident Causes Injuries in Three-Vehicle Collision

A multiple-vehicle crash in Carmichael on April 16 caused injuries to two people. The accident was reported along San Juan Avenue just north of Fair Oaks Boulevard at around 5:37 p.m. by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Three vehicles were involved in the crash, which blocked the left turn lane.

Collision Being Investigated to Determine Cause

Medics with the Carmichael Metropolitan Fire District arrived to assess injuries when two parties complained of pain following the multiple-vehicle crash. Both parties were treated at the scene and refused transport to a hospital. The CHP is investigating the collision to determine fault and how the accident happened.

Multiple-Vehicle Crash Causes

On city streets, a multiple-vehicle crash can have a number of causes, including:

  • A vehicle comes out of a side street in front of oncoming traffic. In some cases, it is caused by reckless driving. In others, not having a clear view of oncoming traffic makes the motorist impatient.
  • Rear-end collisions are probably the most common cause of an accident on a city street. These are often the result of speeding or distracted driving. Once the first vehicle is struck by the second, it can push both into other nearby cars.
  • The Federal Highway Administration reports that safety in intersections is the highest risk area when traveling on city streets.
  • Careless lane changes cause many accidents. A driver who attempts to change lanes without carefully looking for other motorists who might be in the way can cause a crash.
  • Speeding is the cause of a multiple-vehicle crash in many instances. A driver who is speeding is unable to stop in time to avoid an accident and sometimes loses control of their vehicle.
  • Distracted driving is the leading cause of a crash, and the use of electronic devices is the main reason. Texting or using a cell phone prevents the driver from focusing on the road.
  • Impaired drivers who have been drinking or using drugs are the frequent cause of a multiple-vehicle crash. Because their judgment is impaired as well as their reflexes and vision, they are dangers on the road.

How a Lawyer Can Help Following a Collision

When injuries occur in an accident, the injured party may wish to place a claim for personal injury damages to recover their medical expenses, lost wages from being unable to work, and for their pain and suffering. A lawyer can help by gathering the evidence to support the injured client’s claim and negotiate on their behalf to get the best results from the insurance company. In the event the insurance company refuses to pay what the injured party requires, the case can be presented in civil court.

Investigating the Crash

Our investigators go to work right away to collect evidence to support our client’s injury claim. They interview the witnesses and review the police report for errors. Accident reconstruction is performed, and traffic surveillance cameras sought that may have caught the collision on video. Once all the evidence is gathered, it is given to our injury lawyers, who use it to construct a strong claim.
