Bradshaw Road Blocked by Multiple-Vehicle Collision

A multiple-vehicle collision occurred in Sacramento on September 16 that blocked all the southbound lanes of Bradshaw Road and one of the northbound lanes. The accident happened shortly before 11:00 a.m. between Elder Creek and Florin roads in the Florin area. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said that a US Postal Service truck was involved in the crash as well as a Hyundai and two other vehicles.

Further Details of the Multiple-Vehicle Collision

Most of the parties were able to exit their vehicles following the multiple-vehicle collision. Tow trucks were called to the scene to remove the truck and other vehicles. No report was released about injuries in the crash. The incident is under investigation by the CHP to find out what happened to cause the crash and to assign fault to negligent parties.

The Dangers of a Multiple-Vehicle Collision

The danger inherent in a multiple-vehicle collision is due to many factors. Here are some of the most common:

  • Since most multiple-vehicle accidents happen on high-capacity, high-speed roads, the chance that vehicles will ricochet off one another is high.
  • This leads to multiple impacts from which the vehicles may not be able to escape.
  • Since ambulances and rescue personnel cannot reach the injured, treatment is delayed or nonexistent. This leads to many fatalities.
  • Injured occupants also find escaping difficult since rescuers are unable to reach them.
  • The airbags deploy but quickly collapse, leaving the passengers inside subject to worse injuries.
  • Multiple-vehicle collisions often cause a rollover with a possible roof crush injury. The latter occurs when the supportive infrastructure is unable to withstand the weight of the vehicle.
  • Fires are common due to leaking fuel. Once again, firefighters may find it difficult to reach and extinguish the fire before it spreads.

Why You Need an Attorney in a Multiple-Vehicle Crash

Multiple-vehicle crashes are complicated, and it is not always easy to assign liability. In some cases, the person who initiated the accident is to blame. However, other drivers may not exert proper care and might be held at least partially liable. Your lawyer will bring not only an investigative team to the accident site but will use his or her experience in resolving such accidents.

Investigation of an Accident Involving Multiple Vehicles

Since negligence has to be proven in order for an injured person to claim compensation, the evidence is necessary to proceed with a case. This is why our investigators do their best to collect that evidence. They immediately head to the accident site to start to work. Some of the evidence they look for includes:

  • Checking for mistakes in the police report
  • Talking to the witnesses to the multiple-vehicle collision to understand what they saw
  • Reconstructing the accident forensically, which shows how the crash occurred and can point to who was at-fault
  • Checking the video records from nearby traffic surveillance to see if the accident was captured on tape
  • Looking for signs that government negligence was involved, which can include a driver who caused the crash, road problems and others

Our lawyers fight for our client’s compensation claim by building a case with the evidence. It is used either during insurance company negotiations or is presented in court.
