Motorized Bike Rider Killed in Collision on Highway 99 in Butte County
A motorized bike rider killed in collision on Highway 99 in Butte County on Monday afternoon, May 11, 2026, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Crash Occurred Near Biggs East Highway
The collision happened shortly before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 99 and Biggs East Highway, near the community of Biggs. CHP reported that a car was traveling northbound on Highway 99 when the motorized bike entered its path against a red light.
Rider Thrown From Bike, Later Died at Hospital
Authorities said the rider was ejected from the motorized bike upon impact. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
His identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

The California Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
