Motorcyclist Identified After Redding Crash

On Friday, June 14, 2019, Shasta County authorities have identified a motorcyclist who tragically passed away after an auto accident that took place in Redding. The fatally injured man was identified as Brandon Lyle Englund, a 29-year-old man from Redding. According to officers of the Redding Police Department (RPD), the accident involved two vehicles, Englund’s motorcycle and a pickup truck. Officers have indicated that the crash is still under investigation. My support and sympathy are sent out to Mr. Englund’s loved ones after they’ve suffered such a tragic loss.

Crash Information

According to reports, the collision happened at around 10:04 p.m. on Highway 273 close to the Kenyon Drive intersection. Police say that Englund had been driving south on the highway at a high rate of speed when he collided with the rear end of a southbound pickup truck. Englund was knocked off of his motorcycle as a result of the impact, and his vehicle was severely damaged. The driver of the pickup reportedly stopped his truck and remained at the scene of the accident. Further details about the circumstances of the crash remain unavailable.

Emergency responders arrived at the accident scene shortly after the crash took place. They discovered that Englund had suffered serious injuries, despite wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Sadly, medical officials could not assist him, and Englund passed away before being placed on an ambulance. Whether or not the pickup truck driver suffered any trauma during the incident has not been reported.

Investigation

The highway’s southbound lanes were closed to vehicle traffic between South Bonnyview Road and Breslauer Way while police conducted preliminary investigations of evidence at the accident scene. While the investigation continues, RPD has not stated what factors they suspect may have been involved other than speeding. Collision factors commonly involved in motorcycle accidents include vehicle defects or malfunctions, dangerous roads, driver impairment, and more.

Calling an Attorney

After hearing the news of a fatal accident, families can be left devastated. Learning to cope with feelings of grief can be difficult, and many people need months or years in order to recover from such a traumatic event. However, it can be even harder to heal emotionally when you are left with financial concerns such as a loss of income or household services that you rely on.

In order to recover payments for these losses, families are able to file wrongful death claims against parties responsible for the accident. To learn more about the process of recovering wrongful death damages, get in touch with a Redding wrongful death lawyer as soon as you are able.
