Not many people knew that Vincent Van Gogh, one of the most famous painters in American history, spent two years painting almond trees. In the late 1880s, Van Gogh created a series of paintings on blossoming almond trees in southern France. Since Modesto has more beautiful almond trees than any other state in America combined, it is only fitting for the city to host the Wayfarer Van Gogh Challenge exhibit. The artworks will be on display at the Chartreuse Muse until June 18. All proceeds from the event will benefit young artist scholarship programs in drawing, clay, and watercolor.
