Modesto Hit-and-Run Accident Seriously Injures Pedestrian

I’m Ed Smith, a Modesto car accident lawyer. The suspect driver in a hit-and-run remains at large after allegedly causing a pedestrian accident in Modesto on Sunday, January 7, 2018. It was reported that the pedestrian suffered traumatic injuries.

We extend our best wishes for a full and speedy recovery to the injured pedestrian.

Accident Details

A man was walking along the 1500 block of Oregon Drive near Oregon Park just before 3:00 pm. The man was walking north to cross the street when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. The impact from the vehicle allegedly propelled the man several feet east of the collision scene. Witnesses found the injured man near a curb along the north side of the roadway. The suspect vehicle, identified as a silver Buick sedan, reportedly failed to stop after colliding with the man.

Man Suffers Serious Injuries

An ambulance was called to the scene of the pedestrian accident. Paramedics reported that the man suffered serious injuries in the collision and was transported to an area hospital for injury treatment.

Accident Investigation

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has not yet provided a description of the suspect driver involved in the hit-and-run accident due to a continuing investigation. Overcast weather was noted in the accident investigation, however, officials reported that the suspect driver should have had enough visibility to notice a pedestrian crossing the street.

Coverage in Hit-and-Run Accidents

A victim of a hit-and-run accident may not be aware of the immediate coverage available to them following an accident. A victim may choose to utilize their own automobile insurance if they are a policyholder of Uninsured/Under-insured Motorist Protection (UM). This type of coverage is intended to compensate victims of hit-and-run accidents, accidents with uninsured drivers and phantom vehicle accidents. This protection may also be used in accidents with under-insured drivers, who do not have enough Bodily Injury Liability Coverage to fully compensate the victim for their damages. It is important to contact an experienced Modesto car accident lawyer to protect your rights and obtain fair restitution in an auto accident case.
