Minor Injuries Occur in I-80 Traffic Accident

Minor injuries were reported in a June 25 traffic accident on the Dwight D. Eisenhower Highway east of Davis. The two-vehicle collision happened along I-80 at the Chiles Road off-ramp at about 11:34 a.m. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers determined the crash involved a Honda and an Audi.

Cause of Traffic Accident Being Determined

Yolo County Fire Department responders arrived at the accident scene and determined that minor injuries had occurred. The CHP traffic collision unit is working toward determining which driver was at fault for the collision.

Car Accidents and Delayed Injury Symptoms

A traffic accident can cause a variety of injuries, both immediately and over time. It is important to be aware that delayed injury symptoms may not appear until days or weeks after the accident. Common delayed injury symptoms include:

  • Headaches that worsen with time might indicate a traumatic brain injury such as a concussion or worse
  • Neck pain that may include the shoulder and arms as well as stiffness, which might indicate cervical strain or sprain (whiplash)
  • Back pain that curtails the individual’s life and makes it difficult to perform ordinary tasks that can indicate a herniated disc
  • Dizziness, memory problems and difficulty concentrating can be other signs of a traumatic brain injury
  • Emotional trauma caused by the accident may lead to difficulty sleeping, anxiety or depression and require treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder

It’s Important to Seek Medical Care If Your Symptoms Worsen

If you have been in a traffic accident and experienced any of these symptoms, it is important to seek medical attention right away. Your doctor can diagnose any physical injuries that may have occurred and provide you with a treatment plan. They may also refer you to a psychologist or psychiatrist for help with any psychological issues that arise from the accident.

Paying Attention to Delayed Symptoms

It is important to keep in mind that delayed symptoms do not always mean serious physical harm, but it is still necessary to seek medical attention so that any underlying issues can be addressed. By doing this, you can ensure that you are receiving the best care and that any potential long-term issues are caught early.

Recovery of Damages Following a Collision Injury

If you were involved in an accident and experienced delayed injury symptoms, it is also important to contact a personal injury lawyer right away. They can help you understand your rights and may be able to negotiate a settlement agreement with the other party’s insurance company. Additionally, they can help ensure that you get the compensation you deserve for medical bills, lost wages and other costs associated with the accident.
