Medical Emergency Leads to Collision Injuring Three in Vallejo

I’m Ed Smith, a Vallejo car accident lawyer. On Friday, July 21, 2017, a medical emergency led to a collision involving multiple vehicles resulted in three injured individuals in Vallejo.

Accident Details

According to reports released by the Vallejo Police Department (VPD), this collision occurred at about 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Oakwood Avenue and Springs Road. According to police reports, a man had been driving a Uhaul truck on Oakwood Avenue when he suffered a medical emergency. The man’s medical condition reportedly caused him to lose control of his vehicle.

After the driver lost control of the truck, it continued to travel forward. Initially, the truck collided with a vehicle and mailbox on the 1300 block of Oakwood Avenue. After this, the Uhaul traveled into the intersection of Oakwood and Springs, striking a red truck and a newer, blue, four-door sedan. The makes and models of the vehicles that the Uhaul struck were not included in the report.

Response and Injury

VPD responded to the incident immediately. Emergency responders arriving at the scene of the collision found that the driver of the Uhaul, as well as two other individuals, had suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision. All three individuals were transported by ambulance to a hospital for emergency treatment.

No further information about the state of the individuals has been reported so far.

Causal Factors

The incident is still under investigation, but it is believed that the incident was mostly caused by a medical condition of the driver of the Uhaul. While this medical condition has not been specified, authorities have reported that they believe it to have caused the driver to be unable to safely operate his vehicle

Recent Vallejo Accident

This accident has closely followed a couple other injury collisions in Vallejo. One such collision occurred on July 1, 2017, when a vehicle collided with a local home and damaged the exterior gas meter. The driver of the vehicle sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized. Firefighters noted that the gas leak could have caused a dangerous explosion and worked quickly to contain it.

Another recent accident occurred on June 30, 2017, when a vehicle collided with a fire hydrant in Vallejo. The collision left two people with serious traumatic injuries and medical officials had both of them transported to a hospital by ambulance. The hydrant ultimately leaked a few thousand gallons of water onto the roadway before fire crews were able to stop the flow.
