MERCED COUNTY, CA – A tragic collision claimed the life of a Southern California man late Tuesday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. on northbound Highway 99, just south of Buhach Road. A Chevrolet Silverado had come to a stop in the right lane for reasons that remain unknown. A big rig traveling on the same route attempted to avoid the stopped vehicle but was unable to do so in time. The right side of the truck collided with the Silverado.
The driver of the Silverado, a resident of Riverside, sadly passed away at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle, from Coarsegold, sustained major injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Modesto. The driver of the big rig, from Visalia, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Merced Medical Center.
Following the incident, traffic on Highway 99 was diverted to Applegate Road. The roadway reopened shortly after 1 a.m. on Wednesday.

STOCKTON, CA – The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal head-on collision that occurred Wednesday afternoon.
The crash happened around 4 p.m. on Highway 120, west of Sexton Road. According to authorities, a Toyota Highlander was traveling westbound when it crossed into oncoming traffic, colliding with a Hay Squeeze vehicle.
Tragically, the Highlander driver died at the scene. Two juvenile passengers in the SUV, as well as the driver of the Hay Squeeze, sustained serious injuries. All were transported for medical treatment.
Highway 120 was temporarily closed in both directions as emergency crews responded. Traffic was rerouted via Bernnan Road and Van Allen Road.
Authorities are asking drivers to remain cautious and use alternative routes during the investigation.

STOCKTON, CA – A 56-year-old man lost his life after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle, the California Highway Patrol confirmed.
The incident took place on Jahant Road, east of Highway 99 East Frontage Road. An unknown driver struck the cyclist from behind and left the scene. The impact caused the man to be ejected into a nearby irrigation ditch, where he was later found deceased.

STOCKTON, CA – A man was killed early Monday morning following a single-vehicle crash in Stockton’s Seaport District.
CHP reported that the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a traffic signal pole at the French Camp Road on-ramp to northbound I-5. The vehicle caught fire following the impact. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

STOCKTON, CA – A Stockton police officer was injured Monday night after a driver intentionally collided with a patrol vehicle.
Authorities were responding to a restraining order violation on the 1600 block of Bonaire Circle when the suspect, identified as 45-year-old Thai Tran, was alleged to have deliberately rammed a police car. The officer sustained minor injuries.
Tran was taken into custody without further incident and is facing charges related to the violation and assault with a deadly weapon.
