Man Identified Following Redding Area Car Accident
Monday, September 14, 2020, Shasta County officials released the identity of an elderly man who tragically lost his life in a Redding area car accident. The man was identified as 77-year-old John Franklin Stapp, a resident of the town of Palo Cedro. According to officials, the accident happened a couple of weeks earlier on Saturday, August 29, 2020, in the nearby area of Bella Vista. The cause of this crash remains under investigation.
Crash Information
Redding area California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the collision happened at around 12:30 p.m. on Highway 299 between Buzzard Roost Road and Oak Run Road. Details about the events leading up to the incident have not been released.
Police indicated that the crash happened on the eastbound side of the highway and that Stapp was found at the site with critical injuries. Sadly, Stapp was officially pronounced deceased on-site.
