Three Fatalities Reported in Highway 65 Major Traffic Crash

A major traffic crash in Placer County on July 30 caused three deaths. The collision occurred along Highway 65 during the evening hours. The way it occurred, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), was that a woman in a Toyota Camry driving south along the road crossed over a double yellow line and crashed into a Kia Sorrento and a Subaru Forester that were going south.

The woman driving the Camry died at the accident scene. Two people riding in the Forester died at a hospital, including the driver. Another passenger in the Forester suffered critical injuries and was taken by air to Mercy San Juan Hospital.

Ongoing Investigation Into Accident

The Sorrento driver suffered moderate injuries in the major traffic crash and was taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center. According to the CHP traffic accident unit, an ongoing investigation is being conducted into the crash.

Accidents Involving Multiple Vehicles

When multiple vehicles are involved in a major traffic crash, it can be difficult to determine liability without the help of an injury lawyer. When lives are lost, or serious injuries occur, grieving families and the injured have the right to recover compensation from those who were negligent. If multiple vehicles crash, more than one driver may be liable and often is. An accident lawyer can determine liability by investigating the collision, which enables the injured and/or grieving families to recover the compensation they deserve.

Recoverable Compensation Following a Wrongful Death

Wrongful death damages can vary by case, depending on the facts. In most cases, however, you can recover the following:

  • Burial and funeral expenses are recoverable.
  • Among the benefits that can be recovered are the decedent’s wages until retirement age and their insurance and pension benefits.
  • In many cases, a family’s children can recover compensation for the loss of guidance and nurturing that parents provide.
  • Compensation may be available to the spouse in the event of a loss of consortium, love and affection.
  • If the deceased mowed the lawn or took care of the children on a regular basis, compensation may be sought.

The family of a deceased person may be eligible for compensation after losing a loved one because of a motor vehicle accident. The legal process can be confusing at first, but an experienced lawyer can walk you through it step-by-step. You can be sure that your rights are protected and receive the support you need during this difficult time if you have access to the right resources.
