Major Injury Occurs in Cherokee Road Solo Vehicle Crash

A solo vehicle crash occurred north of Oroville on September 20, sending one person to the hospital with a major injury. The collision occurred along Cherokee Road just north of the intersection with Thompson Flat Road around 3:35 p.m. A sedan went off the roadway for unknown reasons and sustained major damage, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP)

Medics were called to the scene and determined that a male involved in the crash had suffered a severe head laceration. He was transported by emergency personnel to Enloe Medical Center in Chico for treatment of his injuries. The CHP traffic crash unit is determining why the collision occurred.

Off-Road Accident Causes

Speeding, weather conditions, and distracted driving are the most common causes of off-road accidents. An external factor can sometimes contribute to accidents involving a single vehicle. If the injured party can prove damages, they might be able to recover compensation for their medical expenses, time away from work, and pain and suffering compensation.

Mechanical Failure Can Cause an Off-Road Accident

Various defects in a vehicle can cause a solo vehicle accident, including the tires, brakes, steering or accelerators. Off-road accidents can occur for many reasons, including:

  • Tires: A blowout or a separation in the tire tread can cause the driver to lose control, leading to the vehicle going off the roadway.
  • Brake failure: If the driver cannot brake, the vehicle will continue accelerating, and a run-off-road collision may result.
  • Steering: If the power steering fails, the wheels can lock up, preventing a driver from controlling their vehicle.
  • Accelerator: A stuck or malfunctioning accelerator can cause a solo vehicle crash.

When a mechanical defect causes an accident, an injury lawyer can assist you in filing a product liability claim. The vehicle should not be destroyed after an accident so engineers can inspect it for defects.

Government Negligence

Potholes, fissures, pavement upheavals, and poor road design all contribute to a solo vehicle crash. A government entity is responsible for injuries due to faulty maintenance. However, you may want to consult a lawyer when a government entity is involved. The statute of limitations is only six months to file a claim.

Lacerations in a Car Accident

While lacerations may not always be serious in an accident, they often are. Not only do they have to be treated and sometimes stitched, but they can leave the injured person with an unsightly scar that can affect them emotionally. Unfortunately, most insurance policies will not cover cosmetic surgery. However, an accident attorney can help you recover compensation to cover all of your medical bills, including plastic surgery to make repairs, your lost wages, and for your pain and suffering.

The following traits should be found in a lawyer, according to Ed Smith in the video below:
