Zinfandel Drive Accident Causes Serious Injury in Two-Vehicle Crash

A major injury was reported in a head-on crash in Mather on March 10 between a van and a sedan. The accident happened on Zinfandel Drive just south of Douglas Road at around 5:39 p.m. Officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP), and Rancho Cordova Police Department arrived at the scene as well as first responders to discover that both lanes of Zinfandel Road were blocked by the crash.

Major Injury Crash Being Investigated

The van had partially gone down an embankment and was partway in the road as a result of the collision impact. One person involved in the crash was diagnosed by first responders as having suffered a major injury and was transported to a nearby hospital. An investigation into the cause of the major injury accident is being conducted to determine how it happened.

Head-on Crashes

Head-on collisions are among the most dangerous types of traffic accidents. They often result in fatalities and serious injuries because the speeds of both vehicles are combined at impact. Some of the reasons a head-on crash occurs include the following:

  • Drunk driving is a common cause of a head-on crash that can result in a major injury. Someone who has been drinking shows poor judgment, lack of concentration and delayed reflexes, and blurry vision. It is easy for one of these drivers to enter a highway ramp or street going in the wrong direction.
  • Distracted driving is a serious problem in California and can lead to an accident. Because the driver is concentrating on texting, talking on a phone, or other activities, he/she can cross the centerline without noticing until it’s too late.
  • Improper passing causes many accidents with major injuries on two-lane roads. Impatient drivers wanting to pass a slower motorist can take risks by passing on a double-yellow line or without waiting for a clear view ahead.
  • Speeding is another reason for head-on crashes that can cause a major injury. A speeder is more likely to lose control of their vehicle, which can end up going into oncoming traffic.
  • Driving too fast around a curve is another reason a major injury crash can happen. By overcorrecting when the vehicle loses control, it can place a car in the path of traffic coming from the other direction.

Investigation of a Two-Vehicle Accident

People who are injured by a negligent driver have the right to place a claim for compensation. It covers the cost of all their medical bills, wages because they may have to be off work and for their pain and suffering. An injury lawyer will collect the evidence needed to support their injury claim that shows negligence was the cause of the accident. The following explains some of the steps our investigators take to collect evidence to support a client’s injury claim:

  • The investigators review the accident report for mistakes and take statements from the witnesses, which can help corroborate how the collision occurred. In some cases, a witness may have filmed the major injury accident on their cell phone.
  • They perform accident reconstruction, which shows the positioning of the vehicles and often points toward which driver was at fault.
  • The investigators seek nearby traffic surveillance cameras that can show the major injury collision as it happened.

Once the evidence is compiled, our injury attorneys go to work to construct a strong case that benefits our client’s claim for compensation.
