Los Banos Woman Killed in Crash on Almond Drive

A woman from Los Banos was killed in a crash on Almond Drive on the night of Friday, January 28, 2022. The traffic collision took place around 7:10 p.m. at Almond Drive and Center Avenue just south of the Los Banos area.

Details on the Crash on Almond Drive That Killed a Los Banos Woman

Officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to the scene of the two-vehicle crash at around 7:13 p.m. Upon arrival, CHP traffic officers found a 2006 Honda and a 2007 GMC involved in the incident that resulted in injuries to both drivers. A preliminary investigation by authorities revealed that the GMC was driven by a 45-year-old Los Banos man and was traveling westbound on Almond Drive. Officials said that the GMC driver failed to come to a stop at the posted stop sign at the intersection of Almond Drive and Center Avenue. This resulted in the GMC traveling in the direct path of the Honda driven by a Los Banos woman.

Officials indicated that the front left side of the GMC was struck by the front of the Honda. The impact of the collision propelled both cars in a northwesterly direction. The GMC driver was reportedly ejected from the vehicle, sustained serious injuries, and was taken to a Modesto area hospital for immediate treatment. The Honda came to a rest in a field near the crash site. Sadly, the Honda driver succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the traffic collision. Officials have recently identified the deceased party as Brenda Luna, 37, of Los Banos. Additional information on the fatal car accident on Center Avenue and Almond Drive was not immediately released by authorities due to ongoing investigation.

How Can a Wrongful Death Claim Help Survivors?

Nothing may ease the grief resulting from the loss of a loved one in an auto accident. There are often extensive losses related to the sudden death of a family member in addition to substantial intangible harms. A wrongful death claim may help survivors recover those losses and allow them to hold the at-fault party financially accountable for their loved one’s passing. California law permits surviving family members to recover compensation to economic and non-economic damages such as loss of companionship, mental anguish, lost future earnings, funeral costs, medical expenses for treatment of the final injury (recoverable through a survival action), and more.

The amount of financial recovery will depend on the evidence proving the duty of care owed to the decedent, the breach of that duty, direct causation, and the extent of damages incurred. Since evidence may be lost or destroyed over time, it is essential that surviving family members retain legal counsel immediately to ensure that it is gathered and preserved immediately. Hiring the best wrongful death lawyer in Los Banos may make all the difference in the outcome of your case, as your attorney will always have your best interests at heart, unlike the insurance company representing the other party.
