Two Killed in Lyft Hit-and-Run Crash
Two innocent people lost their lives on Monday, April 25, 2016, in a hit-and-run crash in Lodi. The victims, a driver and a passenger in a Lyft car, were struck by two teenagers who were allegedly driving a stolen vehicle.
The tragic collision occurred at Lodi Avenue in close proximity to Pleasant Avenue. Two teenage boys were witnessed running away from a serious injury accident. One of the boys appeared to have been the 16-year-old driver. Thankfully, he was apprehended shortly after the crash. The other teenage boy remains at large but was caught on video by a witness using her cell phone.
A 62-year-old man from Stockton was killed while driving for Lyft. His passenger, also from Stockton, was a 43-year-old man.
Our hearts go out to the families of the two men who tragically lost their lives in this Lodi double fatality Lyft crash.
What will the Hit and Run Driver Be Charged With?
The driver of the hit-and-run vehicle faces charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a stolen firearm, driving while intoxicated and two counts of vehicular manslaughter.
What About the Passenger Who Got Away?
Lodi Police have been conducting a large-scale search for the boy who was last seen running on foot from the accident scene. The suspect remains on the loose. Police indicated that the suspect may be dangerous and armed with a weapon. Call 911 if you spot him.
