One Killed and Five Injured in Live Oak Crash

California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that one person passed away and five more were left with injuries during a vehicle accident that took place near Live Oak on Sunday, June 30, 2019. While the fatally injured party has been identified as a female minor from Wheatland, the Sutter County Sheriff’s Department is reportedly waiting to release her identity until her family is properly notified. While two people suffered major trauma during the accident, updates on the condition of the injured parties have not been provided so far. I wish to extend my sincere sympathy and support to the family members and friends of the girl who tragically lost her life as a result of this incident.

Crash Information

The accident reportedly happened at about 4:30 p.m. on Highway 99 just south of Live Oak. A 24-year-old man had been driving southbound in a Ford F-250 pickup truck on the highway close to the Clark Road junction when he approached a bunch of vehicles slowing to stop for a passing train. CHP stated that the driver failed to notice the traffic ahead of him because he was texting and rear-ended an Acura Integra at about 55 miles per hour.

The impact of the collision caused a girl to be ejected from the Acura while the vehicle was pushed into the northbound highway lane. After the Acura was pushed aside, the Ford continued south and struck a third vehicle, a Honda CRV. During the collision with the CRV, the driver of the Ford was ejected from his car. The pickup truck came to a stop in the northbound highway lane. Shortly after, the truck burst into flames. Two more vehicles that had been driving north on Highway 99 were unable to stop before colliding with wrecked cars blocking their path. The make and model of these additional vehicles were not reported.

Injuries

According to responders, the girl ejected from the Acura tragically suffered fatal trauma as a result of the collision. Responders indicated that two individuals were trapped inside of the Acura when they arrived at the accident scene and needed to be extricated with special equipment. Both individuals were taken to a nearby hospital with significant injuries. The driver of the Ford was also found with moderate injuries and was also hospitalized. Two more women were found with minor injuries, but whether or not they received medical care was not reported.

Calling an Attorney

After a fatal accident, families are often left devastated. Dealing with grief can take time, but it should not keep you from seeking help from an attorney. An experienced lawyer will be able to listen to your case with compassion and help you recover the payments that your family deserves. An experienced attorney will be able to investigate the accident and prepare a case that ensures you receive the compensation you need to focus on healing emotionally after enduring a tragedy.
