Community Events in Lincoln

Lincoln is one of the oldest settlements in California and, after being converted to a sizeable city by gold-rush immigration, remains a vibrant community with lots to offer. Some of the upcoming community events taking place in Lincoln over the next few weeks are detailed below.

NaNoWriMo Writing Session

In association with the National Novel Writing Month, the Lincoln Public Library will be hosting a group writing session. The session will offer writers who are interested in taking on the challenge of working on a novel every day for 30 days an opportunity to connect with others who are interested in the program.

Writers and interested parties are invited to the Library’s Technology Center on November 29, 2017, at 4:00 p.m. NaNoWriMo participants and library staff will be there to lead attendees through writing exercises, share inspiration, talk about methods for success, and take steps toward their goals.

Pickleball at McBean Park

On Saturday, December 2, 2017, the local group Pickleball Open Play will be hosting a community day of Pickleball, a fun, all-ages, a paddle sport that can be enjoyed by players of all skill levels. Pickleball combines parts of badminton, ping-pong, and tennis and is played on a badminton-sized court with a lowered net. The game is easy to learn and attendees are encouraged to bring their friends and family out for a day of fun.

Pickleball Open Play will be providing all the necessary equipment and instructions. The event will take place at McBean Park beginning at 9:00 a.m. and will continue until 12:00 p.m. Participation is free to all.

Lincoln Hometown Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting

On the evening of Saturday, December 2, 2017, the City of Lincoln will hold its annual holiday parade and tree lighting between Lincoln Boulevard and 5th Street. The event will include live performances of classic and contemporary Christmas music, “snow” in the plaza, and an appearance from Santa himself.

Local vendors and merchants will serve treats and refreshments to attendees as the community celebrates the holiday season. The parade will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the tree lighting will take place at 6:00 p.m. Attendance is free to the public.

Santa Meet and Greet

On December 16, 2017, the city of Lincoln invites families to come say hello to Santa Claus, who will be making an appearance at Beermann Plaza at 4:30 p.m. Free hot chocolate will be served to parents and children.

Children are encouraged to drop off letters to Santa between December 2 and December 19 in Beermann Plaza. All received letters will be answered personally by Santa himself.
