Lincoln Area Fatal Crash

I’m Ed Smith, a Lincoln car accident attorney. An auto accident that occurred just west of Lincoln left one involved individual with fatal injuries on the night of Wednesday, December 27, 2017.

Accident Information

According to a report issued by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) regarding the incident, two residents of Oroville had been driving south along Highway 99 close to the intersection of West Catlett Road at approximately 10:30 p.m.

A passenger vehicle driven by a 29-year-old Rancho Cordova resident had been heading west on West Catlett Road. The vehicle had reportedly been waiting to cross the road when the driver, for an unknown reason, drove into Highway 99’s southbound lanes directly in the path of the first vehicle. The Rancho Cordova resident was reportedly unable to swerve or brake before her vehicle struck the right side of the oncoming car.

Injuries and Response

CHP received news of this collision and immediately dispatched emergency response personnel to the accident scene. Responders at the scene of the crash discovered that a passenger in the vehicle driven by the Rancho Cordova resident had suffered fatal injuries during the impact and pronounced the individual dead on-scene. The identity of the deceased has not yet been reported pending the notification of their family.

The Rancho Cordova resident and a second passenger of her vehicle reportedly both suffered major injuries and were put in an ambulance before being taken to the U.C. Davis Medical Center in Sacramento to receive emergency treatment.

One of the Oroville residents suffered minor injuries but was not taken to a hospital for medical care. The other Oroville resident received major injuries in the collision and was transported by ground ambulance to Rideout Hospital in nearby Marysville.

Investigation

CHP is currently investigating possible causal factors of the accident. No arrests were made at the collision scene and CHP reports that they do not believe that any involved drivers were under the influence of intoxicants. Additionally, reports indicated that all involved individuals had been properly wearing seat belts when the collision occurred.
