Fatality and Injuries Reported in Route 116 Four-Vehicle Crash

A tragic incident occurred in Lakeville, Sonoma County, where a four-vehicle crash on August 1 resulted in the loss of a person’s life and injuries to others. The accident took place along State Route 116 around 7 p.m. near State Gulch Road, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), when three sedans were traveling westbound on Highway 116, northwest of Novato, as a moving truck was going east.

Determination Being Made on Cause of Four-Vehicle Crash

At this time, the specific cause of the crash and further details remain undisclosed. The collision caused major injuries, and sadly, one person, Anthony Scott, 63, of Sebastopol, lost their life. As the investigation continues, the CHP traffic crash unit will provide additional information as it becomes available.

Common Causes of Liability in a Four-Vehicle Crash

When it comes to multiple-vehicle collisions, determining liability can be a time-consuming process. This is due to the fact that there are often multiple factors at play that determine who was at fault and who should take responsibility for the incident. To decide liability in these cases, the evidence must be gathered from all parties involved and an investigation conducted into the cause. Common reasons a four-vehicle crash occurs are:

  • Reckless or distracted driving from one of the drivers
  • Speeding, unsafe lane changes or failure to yield the right of way
  • Failing to follow traffic laws and regulations
  • Driver fatigue or impairment due to alcohol or drugs
  • Tailgating

Once all evidence has been collected, liability is determined. In some cases, one driver may be completely liable for the accident, while at other times, multiple motorists may share responsibility.

How a Lawyer Can Help You Recover Compensation

If you were injured or lost a loved one in a car accident, an accident attorney can help. A personal injury attorney will review your case and explain all legal options available to you. They will also help you recover personal injury compensation for your damages, including medical bills, lost wages, pain, and suffering.

Wrongful death cases require experienced legal representation. An attorney can help your family through the process, from filing a claim to negotiating with insurance companies. They will also guide you through your rights, ensuring that you receive fair compensation for your loss and suffering. Compensation recovery can include funeral and burial costs, loss of companionship, lost wages and pain and suffering.

Benefits of Working With a Lawyer

When you hire an attorney to represent you in your case, they will use their expertise to help you recover the maximum amount possible. They can negotiate with insurance companies on your behalf to ensure that you receive fair compensation.
