Hazel Avenue Site of Two-Vehicle Injury Crash

A rear-end collision at a Fair Oaks intersection caused an injury to at least one person on June 29. The traffic accident occurred around 12:13 p.m at the intersection of Hazel Avenue and Roediger Lane. The person who reported the crash to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said they were driving a Kia Soul and were rear-ended by a Honda Civic.

At Least One Person Injured in Rear-End Collision

The person who reported the crash suffered an injured arm in the collision, and first responders from the Sacramento Fire Department came to the accident scene to assess those injuries. The Fire Department blocked northbound Hazel Avenue upon arrival. However, motorists were using the left turn lane to turn around. The vehicle was then removed to a parking lot.

Officials Investigating Cause of Intersection Crash

No information was provided on whether the injured person received treatment for their injuries at the scene or was transported to a hospital for additional care. An investigation into the cause of the accident is being conducted by the CHP.

Reasons for a Rear-End Collision

Collisions from the rear are among the most common, and while many people think only minor injuries can occur from this type of crash, it isn’t true. Some of the following injuries may occur:

  • Cervical strain or sprain causes numbness, pain and difficulty moving the head in some people and extends into the shoulders and arms in others. While this type of injury heals in several months for most, others can experience painful symptoms for more than a year because of a rear-end collision.
  • Fractured bones can occur in the chest as well as the lower limbs due to the impact of a rear-end collision and pressure from the seat belt or airbags.
  • Facial trauma occurs if someone is injured by flying glass or metal shards from a defective airbag or even hits the steering wheel.
  • Amputation or crush injuries can occur if the rear-end accident is caused by a motorist who is driving at high speed.
  • Traumatic brain injuries can occur from the sudden back and forth movement of the individual’s head in a rear-end collision.

  • All medical care that arises as a result of your accident injuries
  • Unpaid wages you lost from being unable to work, including bonuses, pension and insurance benefits
  • Earning capacity that was lost if you have to take a lower-paying job because of your injury
  • Emotional distress
  • Physical pain and suffering
  • Compensation for disfigurement and scarring
