Driver Flees the Scene of an Intersection Accident in Fair Oaks

An injury accident that involved a hit-and-run driver happened in Fair Oaks on August 3. The report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said that the multiple-vehicle collision occurred around 10:00 at night at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Fair Oaks Boulevard. It involved a Lexus, an Infiniti, and a Chevy pickup.

Police Detectives Investigating Injury Accident

Traffic was diverted from the area because the collision blocked the intersection. Upon the arrival of Sac Metro Fire medics, it was determined that only minor injuries had been suffered in the crash. The status of the accident was changed to hit-and-run with injuries when one of the drivers chose to leave the scene without exchanging information with the others. Police are investigating the injury accident to determine fault and how it occurred.

Discovering the Cause of an Intersection Accident

Intersection accidents account for more than half of all traffic collisions and often cause serious injuries even when they occur at a low speed. When it comes to liability, many drivers will refuse to admit it was their fault, and their insurance company will readily back them up. That’s why when you’ve been injured by an at-fault driver, it’s a good idea to seek advice from an injury attorney. We’ve successfully handled many intersection accident claims over the years.

Injury Symptoms Can Be Delayed After an Accident

When a collision occurs, the body goes into fight or flight mode, which means the people involved experience a surge of adrenaline. That surge can mask the symptoms of an injury. In other cases, some symptoms can be delayed and appear days or even weeks afterward. This is one of the reasons we encourage anyone who has been in an accident to see a doctor or head to the emergency room to get checked out. It documents your accident, which helps if you place a compensation claim later. Some delayed symptoms after an accident include:

  • Headache: A headache that doesn’t go away or worsens with time could indicate a concussion or neck or head injury.
  • Tingling and numbness: Feeling pins and needles in your arms can be a sign of cervical strain or sprain, better known as whiplash. Far from being a minor injury, whiplash usually clears up in a month or two but can continue for a year, which makes it debilitating.
  • Neck pain: Although neck pain or stiffness can be another indication of cervical strain or sprain, it can also mean that an injury to the spinal cord has occurred. Seeing your doctor if these symptoms appear after a car accident is a good idea to rule out the more serious condition.
  • Abdominal pain: Anytime pain in the abdomen occurs following an injury accident, it can mean serious trauma. From internal bleeding to a damaged organ, it can turn into a situation that is life-threatening.
  • Mental changes: Depression, problems with vision or hearing, and memory or personality issues can be symptoms of a brain injury. When this results from an injury accident, it needs to be addressed right away by going to a doctor or the emergency room.
