Injury Accident Involving Motorcycle Occurs in Citrus Heights

Collision on Greenback Lane Causes Motorcycle Rider to Be Thrown

An injury accident occurred in Citrus Heights on May 17 when a motorcycle and car crashed on an exit ramp off the interstate. The collision occurred around 3:35 p.m. on the Greenback Lane off-ramp just east of I-80 westbound and blocked the lanes, according to the police report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). A phone call to police was made by the driver, who said the motorcycle had flipped over their Ford Escape, and a woman had been ejected from the bike.

Accident Being Investigated by Authorities

Sacramento Fire Department paramedics arrived at the scene to examine the motorcyclist, and it was determined that her injuries weren’t serious. However, no data was released on whether the rider was taken to a hospital for additional evaluation, and the motorcycle was picked up by a tow truck. The roadway reopened at 4:20 p.m. An investigation is underway by the CHP to find out how the injury accident occurred.

Causes of a Motorcycle Injury Accident

Being ejected from a motorcycle frequently causes serious injuries to the rider. If the injury accident is the fault of another motorist, it normally happens because of the following:

  • A motorist suddenly slows down or stops, causing the motorcyclist to strike the rear-end of the vehicle.
  • The driver makes a left turn in front of an oncoming motorcycle rider. Because the motorcyclist doesn’t have time to maneuver out of the way or stop, the bike strikes the side of the vehicle, ejecting the rider.
  • The driver runs a red light and goes through an intersection as the motorcycle rider is passing through legally. This would cause the motor vehicle to strike the motorcycle, causing an injury accident.
  • A driver changes lanes on the highway without noticing a motorcycle rider who is lane-splitting.
  • The driver makes a left after the turn arrow has turned red. Many motorists keep going after the arrow has turned red, thinking that they have enough time to complete the turn before oncoming traffic reaches them, resulting in an injury accident.
  • A motorist parked at a curb opens their car door without checking for oncoming traffic first. This negligence can cause dooring, which is where a motorcyclist or bicycle rider is in the far right lane. When the rider strikes the suddenly opened door, it often results in ejection in an injury accident.

Motorcycle Accident Investigations

For an injured rider to place a compensation claim, it must be proved that the negligent actions of another person or entity were the cause. Our investigators collect the evidence in the following ways, including others:

  • The investigators review the police report to look for mistakes.
  • Area traffic cameras are checked to see if they captured the accident on film.
  • The investigators talk to witnesses to seek corroborating statements.
  • Accident reconstruction is performed, which indicated the positioning of the vehicles before the crash, how it happened and where they came to rest.

Our injury attorneys use the gathered evidence to build a robust case for our client. In this way, they can present a claim that will cover their medical costs, lost wages and their pain and suffering.
