Highway 50 Multiple-Vehicle Crash Occurs When Truck Stalls

An injury accident happened in Sacramento on April 10 caused by a multiple-vehicle crash. The collision happened around 8:30 in the evening along Highway 50, close to Stockton Boulevard. The incident report by authorities stated that a Toyota Prius was stuck behind a truck that had stalled in the number four lane when an SUV crashed into both of the vehicles.

One Patient Transported to Hospital in Injury Accident

Medics with the Sacramento Fire Department arrived at the scene to discover one individual had suffered serious injuries described as moderate. The patient was transported to an area hospital for added evaluation and treatment. An investigation by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) is underway to determine how the injury accident occurred. No further injuries were reported.

How to Handle A Stalled Vehicle in the Road

According to the California Department of Motor Vehicles on handling emergencies, if a car stalls in the roadway, the driver should pull off onto the shoulder, call for assistance and stay in the vehicle with the seat belt on. If there is no place to pull off, the driver should exit the vehicle, get away from it and wait for the CHP Freeway Service Patrol to come by to help.

Compensation Claims Following a Highway Accident

When injuries occur because of a negligent driver, the injured party can place a claim for compensation, which can pay for medical costs, any unreimbursed time off work and for the pain and suffering. We’ve successfully handled many such claims over the years.

Proving Fault in an Injury Accident

Fault in an accident must be shown by a negligent driver or entity for an injured person to place a claim for compensation. Our investigative team is experienced in collecting all the evidence to provide a strong compensation case. In this way, all of the injured client’s medical expenses and lost wages can be recovered as well as compensation for their pain and suffering. Our investigative team collects evidence in the following ways, among others:

  • Our investigators check over the police report to look for errors, especially since mistakes could affect our client’s claim.
  • Accident reconstruction is performed, which includes looking for glass, blown tires, and metal pieces from the vehicles. They photograph the entire site and vehicles from all angles as well as any skid marks or gouges, which could indicate speeding by the at-fault party. The points of impact and distances the vehicles traveled are important factors also.
  • The vehicle itself is examined for any possible defects, including a broken seat belt. This is why it is so important to retain a vehicle following an injury accident. Defects such as a broken seat belt can allow a product liability claim to be placed against the manufacturer and others.
  • Witnesses to the injury accident are interviewed to understand what they saw, which can help corroborate the injured client’s statement.
  • Surveillance cameras at local businesses and on the roadway and street corners are examined to look for live footage of the accident.

Our injury attorneys take over once all the evidence is compiled to construct a strong case for our client.
