Redding Area Truck Crash Causes Injuries

According to California Highway Patrol, injuries were sustained during a Redding area truck crash that took place on Sunday, March 15, 2020. The collision reportedly involved several vehicles. CHP reports stated that nobody suffered any life-threatening injuries during the incident. The cause of the crash remains under an active CHP investigation.

Crash Information

The crash happened at about 4:30 p.m. when multiple vehicles entering the Antler Bridge over Lake Shasta spun out. CHP indicated that the vehicles most likely spun out because of icy conditions on the road. While further details about the events that took place during the crash were unavailable, a big-rig carrying a full load of cargo was involved. The big-rig ultimately crashed through a metal guard rail, coming to rest partially off of the very beginning portion of the bridge. Photos show major damage to both the cab and trailer of the rig.

Response

After an accident witness called CHP, an emergency team was immediately sent to respond. Responders reaching the crash scene discovered that at least one person had suffered significant injuries during the incident. Whether or not any of the injured parties were hospitalized was not reported.

Truck Accidents

Big-rigs are massive vehicles that can weigh several tons. This means that they can be difficult to maneuver and take a long time to come to a complete stop, especially on wet or icy roads. Additionally, their size means that big-rigs carry a huge amount of force and can cause major damage in the event of a crash, even at low speeds. This is a major part of the reason that truckers are expected to follow strict guidelines to ensure that they are safely operating their vehicles.

However, big-rigs are almost always owned and operated by a large holding company that has an entire fleet of vehicles. These companies view accidents as a normal liability of their business. Because of this, they are almost always ready to take action right away in order to disclaim responsibility for an accident. Typically, the company will dispatch their own legal response team to the collision scene so that they can gather their own evidence and statements about the crash.

Taking Quick Action

Because trucking companies are ready for a legal battle, it’s important to reach out to a skilled lawyer as soon as you are able. The sooner that your attorney is able to begin working on your injury case, the better they can defend your right to claim the compensation you deserve.
