A Hydesville injury accident in a construction zone on Highway 36 southeast of Eureka is under investigation after a single-vehicle collision resulted in one person being hospitalized. On September 20 at around 7:36 a.m., California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers responded to a reported crash involving a Tesla Model Y in a construction area near Hydesville.

The vehicle sustained significant damage, primarily a broken front left tire, after reportedly colliding with a stoplight. Fire department personnel on scene indicated that the traffic light at the intersection was not functioning at the time of the crash.
