Hit-and-Run Driver Sought in Madison Avenue Traffic Collision

A tow truck was called to remove the motorcycle, and the injured rider was transported to a nearby hospital. No information was provided on how serious the injuries were to the rider. The accident is being investigated to determine how it occurred and to locate the hit-and-run driver.

Tracking a Fugitive Driver Following a Hit-and-Run

After an accident with a fleeing driver, it is essential to locate that individual so that you can file a claim with their insurance provider or in civil court for compensation. The process of recovery after a traffic collision can be very challenging. An injured party should be compensated for their lost wages and pain and suffering as well as their medical expenses by the at-fault driver. When drivers flee after a collision, we have often been able to track them down. There are many ways in which we locate hit-and-run drivers, including:

  • When our investigators begin gathering evidence, they start at the accident scene. Photographs are taken and metal pieces and paint patches that have fallen are also examined. These items can help identify a vehicle’s make and model since they are specific to certain years and manufacturers.
  • Checking traffic surveillance cameras is one method of determining whether there was footage of the hit-and-run accident. Video footage from the scene may help determine how the accident occurred and identify the vehicle that caused it.
  • To ensure that the police accident report contains accurate details, investigators examine it during the investigation. Incorrect police reports can adversely affect a claim for compensation.
  • The investigators conduct interviews with witnesses. Witnesses may be able to identify or describe the vehicle that left the scene. Since hit-and-run drivers often live nearby the accident scene, a bystander may even know who the person was. In some cases, a witness recorded the traffic collision on their cell phone as it happened.
  • By performing accident reconstruction, how the traffic collision occurred can be reconstructed and will point toward the driver who caused it.

Once all the evidence has been gathered and the hit-and-run driver identified, our injury lawyers will use it to build a case in support of our client’s compensation claim. This evidence is useful when negotiating on the client’s behalf with the insurance company or in preparing a case to present in civil court.

How Insurance Can Help You Recover Compensation in a Traffic Collision

The injured party may be able to collect compensation from their uninsured/underinsured motorist policy if the negligent driver is unable to cover the accident-related expenses. In California, this optional coverage is offered to auto insurance policyholders. Also, if there is another person in the family who carries this add-on policy, you can use it. Rates won’t be affected.
