Hit-and-Runs and Liability

With normal vehicle accidents, negligent drivers can usually be held financially responsible by those who’ve suffered injuries as a result of the crash. By filing personal injury claims, crash survivors are often able to claim the payments they need to cover lost income, medical expenses, and other important damages.

However, if the driver cannot be found, survivors may worry about how they will be able to receive this compensation. Fortunately, it’s often possible for crash survivors to claim payments for hit-and-run accidents through their own insurance policies by utilizing “uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage.”

However, this coverage isn’t mandatory in California, and the amount of compensation available to survivors depends on their specific insurance policy. Furthermore, insurance companies may try to offer less compensation than you truly deserve. For these reasons, it’s important to have advice from a Vallejo personal injury lawyer when trying to claim compensation for any kind of car accident.
