Motorcycle Accident With Fleeing Driver Along Tallyho Drive Causes Injury

A serious motorcycle accident was caused by a hit-and-run driver on June 23. It happened in the Sacramento metropolitan area of Rosemont and left the rider hospitalized with serious injuries. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the collision occurred along Tallyho Drive, where it intersects Avante Way around 5:05 in the afternoon when the motorcyclist was struck by a pickup.

Driver Flees the Scene of Serious Motorcycle Accident

The CHP reported that the pickup truck that struck the rider in Rosemont sped away. It was seen going west along Kiefer Boulevard. Investigators into the crash think the pickup may have been an 80’s model Ford Ranger. They described it as either white or silver in color and with a single cab.

Accident Under Investigation

As part of the investigation into the motorcycle accident, investigators are searching for video footage from nearby surveillance cameras to help locate the driver of the truck. Anyone with information regarding the collision is encouraged to call (916) 464-1450 or (916) 861-1300.

Finding a Hit-and-Run Driver

My office has the ability and experience to find a hit-and-run driver if it’s possible. We do this by conducting our own investigation as well as working with local authorities. I firmly believe that no one should have to pay medical bills and other costs that were caused by someone else. It’s difficult enough to face an injury without experiencing economic stress. However, in the event a fleeing driver cannot be found, there are other options we can help with.

Uninsured Insurance Coverage

All motorists in California are offered an optional policy for uninsured/underinsured insurance coverage. Those who are injured in an accident with someone who has no insurance or is underinsured can collect damages through this optional policy. It not only covers the injuries to you and anyone else riding in your vehicle at the time of the accident, but it also kicks in if the at-fault driver is uninsured or underinsured. The nice part about this optional insurance is that if you don’t carry it, but another household member does, that can be used to pay the expenses instead. The amount of the premium does not increase by using this coverage.

Investigating an Accident

To obtain compensation after being injured by a negligent driver requires that we can discover evidence that proves liability. My office has successfully handled many cases over the years, so we are well-experienced in systematically and efficiently collecting that needed evidence. Our investigators begin right away, including by:

  • Checking the police report for errors
  • Talking to witnesses to the motorcycle accident and taking their statements
  • Performing forensic accident reconstruction that illustrates how it occurred and whether certain types of negligence such as speeding was involved
  • Seeking clues that can help identify the driver if it is a hit and run such as tire tracks, paint smears and pieces of metal
  • Looking for nearby cameras that might have captured the motorcycle accident on tape

Our lawyers work hard to build a case in favor of our client once all the evidence has been gathered. The evidence is used in some cases to conduct negotiations with the insurance company to benefit the client. In other cases, it must be taken to court to obtain the amount of compensation the client deserves.
