Authorities Discover Body Lying on Florin Road

A body lying in the roadway reported by callers to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) on June 13 is suspected to be the result of a hit-and-run collision. Motorists driving west along Florin Road shortly after 12:00 a.m. called police when they spotted what they thought was a body and blanket in the number two lane near Bowling Drive. When officers arrived, they discovered a deceased male with no identification or property on him.

Investigation Ongoing in Hit-and-Run Fatality Accident

It is unknown also whether the body was that of a child or an adult male. So far, officers have no information about the driver or vehicle that struck the pedestrian. Those who have information on the incident are asked to phone (916) 897-5600.

Hit-and-Run Accidents

A driver who flees the scene of an accident and leaves behind an injured or dying person exhibits egregious negligence in that act. Not only is the act itself reprehensible, it causes even more pain and suffering to the family as they wonder how the accident happened, why it occurred and who could do something like that to their loved one. At AutoAccident.com, we believe we have a satisfactory track record of finding hit and run drivers, so they can be held responsible for their actions either through their insurance company or by filing a wrongful death claim in civil court.

Locating a Driver Who Flees the Scene of an Accident

Some of the techniques we use to find a hit-and-run driver include the following:

  • As soon as possible, our investigators go to the accident site to collect evidence before it is covered up or destroyed.
  • The police report is examined for any evidence that could help locate the hit-and-run driver.
  • Because one of the traffic cameras in the area may have filmed the accident as it occurred, they can be a valuable source of information. That film can be subpoenaed to help locate the hit-and-run driver.
  • Information can also be obtained from witnesses. Perhaps a witness saw the accident unfold and remembers part of the license plate number.
  • To reveal how the hit-and-run driver’s crash occurred, it is necessary to reconstruct the accident. Insurers and civil courts accept such evidence.

Compensation Can Be Recovered Through Your Insurance Coverage

Medical expenses caused by an accident may be covered by uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage if the other party is unable to pay for them. It covers drivers, passengers in vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians. In your absence, another member of your immediate family may use their insurance. The premium remains unchanged.

Settlement of a Claim with an Insurance Company by Arbitration

Arbitration is a process in which a lawyer represents you if the insurance company and injured party cannot agree on the amount of the settlement. You may be able to get a better settlement for your injuries and bills due to an injury lawyer’s experience in dealing with insurance companies. Our office is familiar with all the tricks an insurance company uses to try and lower the payout on a claim.
