Hit-and-Run Accident Fatally Injures Manteca Man
I’m Ed Smith, a Manteca car accident lawyer. An elderly man was taking a stroll through Manteca during the night of Thursday, January 25, 2018. Sadly, this would be the last walk he will take due to a tragic hit-and-run accident.

What Happened?
An elderly man was walking along the north shoulder of Highway 120 west in the vicinity of Union Road at approximately 7:14 pm. Witnesses reported that the man allegedly walked from the shoulder and entered the right lane of travel just before being struck. Drivers in the right lane were able to stop their vehicles in time to prevent a serious collision with the elderly pedestrian. The pedestrian continued into the left lane, where he was struck by the right side of an oncoming silver sedan. The impact of the collision propelled the man into the right lane of travel. The driver of the silver sedan allegedly fled the scene following the accident.
Nature of Injuries
Emergency responders were called to the scene of the pedestrian accident. Upon arrival, medical personnel conducted an evaluation on the injured victim. Sadly, the elderly man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Identity of Victim
The victim was identified by officials as a 63-year-old man of Manteca. His full name remains unknown due to pending notification of next-of-kin.
Hit-and-Run Accident Investigation
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is in charge of the hit-and-run accident investigation. Authorities have yet to locate the suspect driver who fled the scene after the crash.
