highway 50 auto collision

A Carmichael man was traveling in his vehicle along Highway 50 during the morning hours of Wednesday, March 1, 2017. For unknown reasons, the driver crashed into the guard rail of the highway which caused two other cars to collide in the eastbound lanes.

What Happened?

A 22-year-old man from Carmichael was traveling eastbound along Highway 50 in his Ford Focus in the vicinity of Howe Avenue. For reasons which remain unclear at the time of this writing, the man’s vehicle struck the steel guard rail on the south shoulder of the roadway. The impact caused his vehicle to sustain major damage and come to a rest with the driver’s side perpendicular in the No. 5 lane with oncoming traffic approaching.

Toyota Camry Crashes Into Ford Focus

A motorist in a Toyota Camry was traveling in the No. 5 lane eastbound along Highway 50. The driver was going to take the Howe Avenue exit when he observed the Ford Focus without their lights on in front of him blocking his lane. The driver was unable to stop in time and struck the driver’s side of the Ford. The impact from the collision caused the engine of the Ford to completely disengage from the vehicle and landed in the No. 5 lane. Both of the cars came to a rest against the guard rail.

Third Driver Crashes Into Ford Focus Engine

The engine of the Ford Focus was in the No. 5 eastbound lane of Highway 50. An oncoming vehicle was approaching in the No. 5 lane and could not stop in time to avoid the engine. The vehicle crashed into the engine and came to a rest in the No. 4 lane.

What Caused the Accident?

Authorities have not yet released a cause of the automobile accident. It generally takes up to two weeks for a Traffic Collision Report to be generated. All three incidents are being investigated as separate accidents. It is important to call an experienced auto accident attorney for help pinpointing liability (fault) as traffic collision reports can contain errors as to fault.

Fatal and Other Minor Injuries

The driver of the Toyota Camry suffered minor injuries in the initial automobile accident. The third driver did not suffer injuries in the crash. Unfortunately, 22-year-old Sergio Guadalupe Corona Jimenez, the driver of the Ford Focus, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

We extend our condolences to the family members of the man that suffered fatal injuries in this tragic automobile accident.
