Sacramento Truck Accident at Sutterville Road – Highway 5
On Monday, December 21, 2015, during the early morning hours, a big rig crashed while on northbound Highway 5. According to California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash was just south of Sutterville Road in Sacramento. The truck was heading southbound when its driver lost control and crashed through the concrete center divide. It wasn’t long ago (December 10, 2015) that a deadly Federal Express trucking accident tragically ended the life of an Elk Grove man. In this trucking accident similar wet and rainy road conditions were present. The location of the December 10th and December 21st accidents are relatively close in proximity.
In the Federal Express accident, the truck driver also lost control of his truck and crashed through the center divide. A pick up truck being driven by a man from Elk Grove was unexpectedly hit by the FedEx truck. Sadly the man lost his life that day.

More on the details of Sacramento truck accident at Sutterville Road
After the truck driver crashed through the center divide into the northbound lanes of travel, his trailer was still on the southbound side of the freeway. This all happening near the Sutterville Road exit. The cab of the truck was hanging over the median and was blocking some of the northbound lanes. The freeway had lanes blocked in both directions. Large broken chunks of concrete littered the highway along with spilled diesel fuel everywhere.
Consequently, traffic backed up for miles while crews tried to remove the truck, concrete debris and fuel from the freeway. CHP and media outlets urged commuters to use alternate routes of travel (Highway 99).
The driver of the truck was treated for minor injuries. Injuries to other motorists were not immediately available. The freeway was cleared of this trucking accident as well as another truck crash near 43rd Avenue at about 8:30 a.m.
