Driver Flees Injury Accident on 47th Avenue

A head-on collision resulting in injuries occurred in Sacramento on July 20, following which one of the drivers fled the scene. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the crash occurred at the intersection of 47th Avenue and 47th Street around 12:25 in the afternoon. Sacramento Fire Department medics were called to the scene where they found at least one person with injuries.

Authorities Seek Fleeing Driver Involved in Intersection Crash

The injured patient’s vehicle was found by officers on westbound 47th Avenue in the left-turn lane to Burns Way and causing a traffic hazard. According to one witness to the head-on collision, a white Saturn was seen driving recklessly prior to the crash and may have been involved. Authorities seek the fleeing driver who was involved in the head-on collision and work to determine how the accident happened.

Hit-and-Run Collisions

Hit-and-run crashes are becoming more common in the Sacramento area as drivers flee the scene rather than take responsibility for their actions. At our law firm, we’ve successfully located a number of fleeing drivers and make a strong effort to do so. This is because we believe people should act responsibly, and someone who has been injured suffers enough without having to pay financially for their losses.

Finding a Fleeing Driver

We send out our investigators to look for the evidence needed to locate a hit-and-run driver, including the following:

  • Our investigative team works with authorities and checks the police report to ensure its accuracy.
  • Surveillance cameras in the area are checked to see if the head-on collision was captured on tape. If it was, it may show a clear view of the vehicle that fled the scene.
  • Investigators take statements from any witnesses to the head-on collision. Witnesses may be able to give a description of the driver and vehicle that fled the accident scene. In some instances, a witness may recall the license plate, at least in part, or have filmed the head-on collision as it occurred.
  • They perform accident reconstruction. It shows how the vehicles were positioned before the head-on collision occurred and when it happened. This can point toward who was at fault for the accident.

Once all of the evidence has been collected, our client’s strong claim for injury compensation is built by our attorneys.

Collecting Compensation if the Hit-and-Run Driver Can’t Be Found

In some instances, the driver of the vehicle that fled the scene of a head-on collision cannot be located. However, there is another way that the injured party can obtain compensation to pay for their medical bills and lost wages. This is through using their uninsured/underinsured auto insurance policy.

As most California drivers know, when they first elect to obtain car insurance, the uninsured/underinsured policy is offered to them as an add-on. Many Californians have opted into this coverage because of the high number of drivers who are either uninsured or underinsured. It will pay for accident injuries whether they occur in a vehicle or as a bicycle rider, pedestrian or in other instances.

If the person who was injured does not carry this add-on policy, they can use that of another household member. Your injury attorney can help by handling the claim for you to ensure you obtain what you deserve.
