Community Events in Grass Valley

Grass Valley is a historic 1800’s gold rush town that offers residents easy access to beautiful forests and rivers, vineyards and farms, and a vibrant community with many exciting events. Just a few of the events that Grass Valley and nearby cities have to offer in the coming weeks are listed below.

Strawberry Music Festival

Grass Valley’s own music festival, The Strawberry Music Festival, will continue the tradition of the gathering of the Strawberry Tribe, a music event that was originally held in the pine forests of Camp Mather close to Yosemite National Park. The music will begin at the Nevada County Fairgrounds on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at 5 p.m. and continue until the closing ceremonies take place at 10 p.m. on Sunday, May 28, 2017.

The festival won’t just feature excellent musical performances from renowned acts; it will hold side-stage performances, instrument workshops, jam sessions, children’s activities, demonstrations from local wildlife groups such as the Shady Creek Outdoor School and the Nevada County Beekeepers Association, and much more. Attendance is expected to be in the thousands.

Hiking

There are many more opportunities to get out and enjoy. You don’t have to wait for scheduled Grass Valley community events. Don’t forget about the beautiful trails available anytime. Such as the Alan Thiesen Trail. This is one of the most popular hiking trails. It is loved and travelled by locals near and far.  Nestled around Alta Sierra, the lovely trail loops along a tiny nature preserve with a park-like forest that sits on a hill. It is picturesque with small meadows and really nice views. Our options are endless in Grass Valley. Especially in the spring and summer months. See you around town!
