US Biking Hall of Fame
This safe city offers a ton of fun things to do in Davis CA for families. If you are looking for something fun to do during the summer makes sure to stop off at one of the sparkling swimming pools around the city. Sports is a city favorite of Davis as there are many ball fields around the town. Make a picnic and visit one of the local parks. However, there are so many things to do in Davis, CA that is year-round so if you are looking for something to do during any of the other seasons you will find it. For example, if you love bicycling you will greatly enjoy the more than 50 miles of bicycle paths that are available to riding. There is even a US Biking Hall of Fame that you can visit in town. The Davis Farmer’s Market is opened year-round as well. You do not want to miss out on all the great fruit and fresh vegetables you can get your hands on. There is just nothing else like it in the world.
UC Davis Arboretum
Davis has the perfect community-build Art Center too. This place features at least twenty-four private as well as public galleries. The town features a monthly Art-About that you can tour too. Make sure to stop by the Artery where local artists provide a place for artists to sell their work. You just might find something for your own collection. The UC Davis Arboretum is also a must-see. This place offers beauty that you will not want to skip as well as the Haagen-Dazs Honey Bee Haven. This is a nice and very quiet place to visit but oh so beautiful.
Explorit Science Center
For more educational time take a trip to the Explorit Science Center. You will be entertained by all the things this museum has to offer. The atmosphere is friendly and the staff is great. There are a good bit of indoor and outdoor activities that children will love. You can also check out the Bohart Museum of Entomology while you are at it. This working entomology laboratory allows visitors to come in and tour and learn all about insects and other creepy crawlies they have on display.
For the Thrill Seekers
If you are looking for more of a thrilling adventure you will need to look no further as Davis also has some exhilarating and adrenaline-pumping activities too. Skydance Skydiving is a thrill for any adrenaline junky. You can actually skydive with the experts. You do not have to do it all on your own if you are not ready for it as they do offer tandem jumping as well. While waiting on your turn to go up in the plane to jump you can watch others from the ground. It really is an exciting thing to watch and beautiful too. They will even video your jump for you so you can take home the experience and show all your friends or relive the memory yourself. Of course, this does cost just a little extra but it is well worth it.
If flying high isn’t your activity of choice but you like some action activities then you should consider a paintball war. There are multiple locations where you can do this around the Davis area. There are even all-day packages so you can literally play all day! What a time you will have.
Dance
If you live in the area you can take dance classes and learn something new. For instance, the Applegate Dance Studio offers ballet classes. They actually offer drop-in classes for teens and adults so you can actually just drop in to pick up a few moves if you are just visiting the area. Davis also has the Davis Fencing Academy which is extremely cool. You can actually learn how to fence. Who wouldn’t want to learn how to sword fight? Another stimulating activity you can do and it is very close to the city of Davis is taking scuba classes. The Dolphin Scuba Center and Swim School does offer scuba diving. They provide all the equipment. You just have to bring your swimsuit and a towel. You will get to learn how to breathe underwater and so much more all from the comfort of a heated pool.
Other Adventures Nearby
The Iceland Ice Skating Rink is a perfect place for a date. If you do not know how to ice skate that is okay, it makes for a much more memorable experience if you don’t. Another fun place to go that is not far from the city of Davis is Surf Xtreme. You can jump on the indoor surfing simulators which create the illusion that you are really surfing. The water flows up to 30 miles per hour! Once you have finished surfing go check out their trampoline area. You will have 2,400 square feet of trampoline fun. Kids and adults both have a blast at Surf Xtreme. They even have some games they play like Capture the Flag and Last Man Standing if you visit their paintball area of course.
