There are so many reasons to love December – where do we start? Whether it’s the holiday traditions of wrapping presents, baking cookies for Santa or the chilly weather that calls for sweaters and fuzzy socks, there’s always a reason to smile. If you are going to be in Fresno this month, let’s make sure you have enough activities to book up the rest of your calendar. Below I have compiled a short collection of upcoming events. Christmas Tree Lane

Date: Tuesday, December 18, 2018

Time: 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Location: N Van Ness Blvd., Fresno, CA 93711

Admission: Free

This local event has been a longtime tradition for more than 95 years now. Every December, Van Ness Boulevard in the Old Fig neighborhood magically transforms into Christmas Tree Lane. Thousands of Christmas lights and decorations will be on display for the public eye. The 2-mile stretch is stacked with hundreds of houses and trees decked-out for the season. You can drive by any night from now until Tuesday, December 25. Gather your whole family and spend the night in awe as you gaze at all the beautiful decorations.

This ten-minute video shows a compilation of pictures taken at Fresno’s very own Christmas Tree Lane in 2013. In just a mere two miles, more than 140 houses and 300 trees were extravagantly decorated for the public, with more than 200,000 visitors throughout three weeks.

Art Hop

Date: Thursday, December 20, 2018

Time: 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Location: Tower District & Downtown Fresno, Fresno, CA 93721

Admission: Free

Art Hop is a highly successful and active program ran by the Fresno Arts Council on the 1st and 3rd Thursday each month. Art connoisseurs from all over come to participate and observe the breathtaking galleries, studios, and museums that partake in this bi-weekly event. Not only will attendants be able to walk through open exhibitions, but there will also be a meet and greet with many of the artists. Don’t miss out on this cultural event with more than 60 participating art venues.

Zoo Lights

Date: Sunday, December 23, 2018

Time: 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Location: 894 West Belmont Avenue, Fresno, CA 93728

Admission: $5 – $9 tickets

The well-loved Fresno Zoo turns into a winter wonderland for the month of December! It will be completely decorated with miles of Christmas lights. There will be holiday music, festive treats and beverages, and many forms of live entertainment to keep adults and children happy. This event will be the perfect night out for you and your family, and family is what should be celebrated the most this month.
