Three-Vehicle Crash in Clearlake Injures Four

Multiple people were injured in a three-vehicle crash in the city of Clearlake on Thursday, January 2, 2019. According to the Clearlake Police Department (CPD), four people altogether were left with injuries as a result of the accident. Police indicated that two suffered minor injuries, one was moderately injured, and the fourth was left with major trauma. The collision is under an active police investigation.

Crash Information

CPD reported that the collision occurred just prior to 3:30 p.m. on the 14000 block of Lakeshore Drive outside of Highlands Park. While details about how the accident was caused were not available, reports stated that one of the three involved vehicles overturned onto its roof, completely blocking the roadway.

Shortly after the accident took place, CPD issued an alert reporting that Lakeshore was closed between Alvita and Palmer avenues and dispatched emergency responders to the collision scene. Officers arriving at the site discovered that one person was trapped in their vehicle and had suffered a possible head injury. Emergency personnel extricated the individual from their vehicle and called for a helicopter ambulance to transport the seriously injured party to the nearby Adventist Health hospital.

Additionally, reports from authorities indicated that a pole, as well as some electrical equipment, was damaged as a result of the accident.

Investigation

Police involved in the investigation of this accident have not yet reported what factors they suspect to have caused the collision. Multiple vehicle collisions can be complicated and are often caused by multiple factors, many of which aren’t under the control of drivers. These can include things like defective roadways or malfunctioning vehicle parts.

Rollover Collisions

Accidents that involve an overturned vehicle very often involve serious injuries and are typically more dangerous than other types of crashes. One of the main reasons that these crashes are dangerous is that vehicle roofs often aren’t strong enough to withstand the force of an impact. When this happens, people are liable to suffer roof crush injuries that might have otherwise been avoided.

Because vehicle manufacturers are expected to ensure the safety of their projects, they are often able to be held financially liable for damages caused when drivers or passengers suffer roof crush injuries.

Available Compensation for Car Accident Injuries

By filing a personal injury claim against auto manufacturers and/or other liable parties, car accident survivors are often able to claim payments to cover a wide range of damages. These damages can include medical bills as well as lost wages, personal suffering, property damages, and more. If you want to know what payments you may be able to claim for your injuries or if you are unsure if you have a viable injury case, it’s important to contact a Clearlake personal injury lawyer with plenty of experience.
