Roseville Road Accident Results in Injury in Three-Vehicle Crash

A fleeing driver caused injuries to one person in an accident in Sacramento County on November 24. It was reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) that the accident occurred along northbound Roseville Road and Palm Avenue around 5:38 p.m. in the Foothill Farms area and involved three vehicles. All three of the vehicles ended up facing in the wrong direction from the impact of the crash, and one of the drivers ran from the accident scene.

One Person Injured in Three-Vehicle Collision

One individual, driving a Honda Accord, was reported as injured. However, no details on that injury or whether the patient was transported to a hospital was provided. The CHP is seeking information on the fleeing driver.

Reasons for a Fleeing Driver

Most people would agree that if an accident occurs, they know to stay at the scene, exchange insurance information, and see if anyone is injured and needs medical care. However, these days, more and more accidents end up being a hit-and-run driver, who does not want to take responsibility for their actions. If an injury occurs, this means they may be facing felony charges if and when they are caught. Some reasons a motorist might turn into a fleeing driver include:

  • The driver has unpaid traffic citations and doesn’t want to be caught by the police.
  • The vehicle is stolen or belongs to someone else.
  • The driver has drugs or weapons in the car and doesn’t want to face charges.
  • The motorist is intoxicated and realizes they will be arrested if they remain at the accident scene.
  • The driver is unlicensed or is driving on a license that has been suspended.
  • The driver simply does not want to get involved or becomes afraid and runs.

Catching Up With a Fleeing Driver

Our law office is experienced in hunting down a fleeing driver. Not only do we work with local authorities, we conduct our own investigation to find them. This begins with our investigators. They check the report filed by the police to look for errors and interview the witnesses to understand what they saw. In many cases, they can give us information on the vehicle that left the accident scene.

Evidence Found at the Scene

The investigators look for evidence in the form of pieces of metal that were dropped from the vehicle and paint scrapes that can be matched to the make and model of the vehicle, even the year it was manufactured. One important piece of evidence can come from nearby traffic and roadside cameras. In a number of cases, the vehicle is caught on film as it speeds away. Accident reconstruction is also performed, which shows the positioning of the vehicles. By combining the pieces of evidence, the driver can be located and held responsible financially for injuries.

Using Insurance to Cover the Cost of the Injury

In some cases, the fleeing driver cannot be located. However, the cost of the injuries can be covered by using a driver’s uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. This add-on is offered to all California drivers when they elect to take auto insurance and covers not only motorists but bicycle riders, motorcyclists and others.

If the driver does not have coverage for uninsured or underinsured motorists, they can use the policy of another member of the household who carries it. This does not affect the rates in the future.
