Deadly ATV Crash in Napa Valley

One man tragically lost his life after a fatal car accident that happened in Napa County on Monday, June 10, 2019. According to reports from California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident took place at a local winery and involved only one vehicle. Officials from the Napa County Sheriff’s Department identified the fatally injured individual as Charles Kincade, a 35-year-old resident of College Park, Georgia. My thoughts and sympathy are sent to Mr. Kincade’s loved ones after they have experienced such a terrible loss.

Collision Information

Police reported that Kincade had been driving a 2010 Honda Rancher ATV on the grounds of the Vine Cliff Winery in Napa at about 5:30 p.m. Officers indicated that Kincade lost control of the vehicle and veered into a nearby tree. The ATV’s front right side collided with the tree and Kincade was thrown from the vehicle, his body striking the tree as well before falling to the ground.

A member of the staff at the winery reportedly heard the accident happened and noticed Kincade was lying on the ground near the ATV with an obvious head injury. When responders arrived at the location of the accident, they determined that Kincade had been seriously injured and was rushed to the Queen of the Valley Medical Center for emergency treatment. Tragically, Kincade’s injuries were too severe, and hospital staff officially declared him deceased at 6:30 p.m.

Investigation

CHP has indicated that their investigators are looking into this crash in order to determine which factors were involved. Police have stated that they do not currently know if drugs and/or alcohol played a part in this accident and have not mentioned any other possible causes. Accidents such as this one are frequently caused by factors such as defective vehicle parts, medical issues, and more.

Wrongful Death Damages

After losing a person you love, people often go through an intense period of grieving. During this time, it can be hard to focus, and feelings of anger, sadness, and confusion can feel overwhelming. However, losing a loved one can also cause serious financial concerns, especially if the decedent was a primary source of income for their household. Many families are unsure of how they will be able to continue living their lives without such support.

Because these concerns are so serious, those who’ve suffered the loss of a family member during a fatal crash can seek compensation through wrongful death claims. By filing a wrongful death claim, families can recover payments from parties responsible for the accident such as vehicle part manufacturers, premises owners, reckless drivers, and others. These payments can provide people with the financial security they need to begin healing emotionally.
