Fatal Motorcycle Collision

Fatal Motorcycle Collision

I’m Ed Smith, a Citrus Heights Motorcycle Accident Attorney. We were saddened to learn about a tragic motorcycle accident involving two riders. Sadly, one of the riders was killed, while the other sustained traumatic injuries on Saturday evening in Citrus Heights.

What Happened?

Two people were riding on a motorcycle along Van Maren Lane in Citrus Heights when they collided with a vehicle as it was making a turn out of Summers Worth Road.

Severe Nature of Fatal Motorcycle Collision

Authorities reported the impact of the collision so severe that the occupants on the motorcycle were catapulted some 100 feet away from the scene of the crash.

One Fatality, One Severely Injured

The man operating the motorcycle was tragically killed, and his female rider is reported to be in serious condition.

What Happened to the Driver of the Vehicle?

The driver of the vehicle that collided with the motorcyclists was reportedly shaken by the sequence of events but was not injured as a result of the collision.

Who Is At Fault in Fatal Motorcycle Collision?

It is too soon to tell. No one has been charged at this point. It generally takes a week or so for the investigating agency to prepare a report of their findings. It can take longer when someone has lost their life.

Traffic Collision Reports May Contain Errors

Sometimes a traffic collision report may contain errors or be inconclusive. This can leave many questions unanswered for the family members who have lost their loved one in a motorcycle crash.

Independent Investigation by Qualified Motorcycle Accident Attorney

It is extremely important when one of the parties to a collision has passed away that an independent investigation be performed by an experienced accident attorney. An experienced accident attorney will protect the rights of the deceased. The person that passed away cannot give an account of the sequence of events leading up to the crash. In this case, the passenger on the motorcycle may not be able to give her account of what happened because she has suffered traumatic injuries. This is precisely why it is so important to contact an experienced motorcycle accident attorney.

Preserving Evidence Is Crucial

An experienced attorney will get out to the scene to preserve evidence, take photographs, canvass the area for witnesses, determine if video surveillance cameras in the area may have captured the accident as well as perform other accident investigation techniques. It is important to preserve the motorcycle as well as the helmets, clothing and other debris that may have scattered at the accident scene. This will be important in proving liability (fault) in a crash. For more information, contact and experienced motorcycle accident attorney.

Fatal Motorcycle Collision Update:

The coroner’s office  indicated that the motorcyclist who passed away was identified as 32-year old, Shawn Ingle, of Orangevale.

We extend our condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Ingle. We send our best wishes to his passenger for a full and speedy recovery.
