According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash occurred at approximately 12:29 a.m. in the southbound lanes near Auburn Boulevard.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find the woman lying unresponsive in the middle of the roadway. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
