Two-Vehicle Fatal Crash Near Wheatland Occurs on Highway 65

A fatal crash near Wheatland left one man dead and another injured on the morning of March 7 in Placer County, northwest of Auburn. The incident occurred around 9:40 a.m. at the Highway 65 and Wheatland Road intersection and involved a pickup truck and a sedan, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). 

Fatal Crash Near Wheatland Also Injures Roseville Man

Emergency responders transported a 39-year-old Roseville man with moderate injuries to a nearby hospital for treatment. Tragically, a 23-year-old Wheatland resident succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision.

Impairment Not Suspected in Fatal Crash Near Wheatland 

The CHP reported that drugs and alcohol are not suspected as contributing factors in the crash at this time. Following the collision, Highway 65 was blocked at Riosa Road in both directions near the Placer/Yuba County line. Authorities have since reopened the roadway. 

Investigation Into Highway Accident Ongoing

An investigation is currently underway by the CHP traffic crash unit to determine the cause of the collision and identify fault. Further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
