How an Attorney Can Help with Your Wrongful Death Car Accident Case

The loss of a family member in a motor vehicle collision may be traumatic and painful for the loved ones they leave behind. This is especially true if the incident was the result of another party’s negligence or carelessness. A fatal accident case may be emotional and challenging, and a California wrongful death attorney can help in various ways, including:

  • Provide Guidance and Support: The loss of a loved one in an accident caused by someone else’s negligence is painful. A California wrongful death attorney understands this all too well and will be there to provide the support and guidance survivors need throughout the legal process. A lawyer will also explain their client’s rights, answer their questions, and help them make well-informed decisions on how to move forward in their situation.
  • Investigate the Fatal Accident: Since a lost close relative is no longer around to provide their account of the car accident, it is essential that survivors have an attorney on their side to be their loved one’s voice. Their lawyer will investigate the incident, work with crash reconstruction experts, and gather evidence to properly establish fault.
  • File a Lawsuit: While we would all hope for an insurance company and defense counsel to make a reasonable settlement offer to surviving family members, that is not always the case. The goal of the insurer is to protect profit margins and that may mean paying as little as possible in accident claims. If a mutual settlement agreement is not possible with the other side, an attorney will file a lawsuit and move forward with litigating the case.
  • Representing Survivors in Court: If the matter goes to trial, an attorney will represent surviving family members and present their case in civil court for a judge or jury to determine an award that is appropriate for survivors.

Overall, an attorney can help surviving family members navigate the wrongful death claims process and seek justice and full financial recovery for the loss of their close relative.
