Fatal Anderson Rollover Crash

California Highway Patrol (CHP) has reported that a vehicle accident in Anderson left one person with fatal injuries on Tuesday, August 20, 2019. The collision reportedly took place late at night just outside of Anderson city limits in the area of Cascade and only involved one vehicle. Authorities of the Shasta County Sheriff’s Department identified the decedent as Carol Bollinger, a 22-year-old resident of Anderson. CHP reports that they are actively investigating possible causes of this fatal collision.

Crash Details

According to police reports, the accident happened at around 11:00 p.m. Bollinger had been driving south on Deschutes Road to the north of Green Acres Drive in an unidentified passenger vehicle. Bollinger reportedly lost control of her vehicle while attempting to navigate a right-hand curve in the road. After she lost control, the vehicle traveled off the roadway and down a nearby embankment, rolling several times before coming to a stop. Police say that Bollinger was ejected through a vehicle window during the accident.

Responders arriving at the crash site discovered that Bollinger had suffered critical injuries. Sadly, she was not able to be treated and passed away at the scene of the wreck.

Investigation

Officers say that a full accident investigation is underway but have not officially reported what factors they believe may have been involved. Collisions such as this one are frequently caused by factors that are not under the control of the drivers involved. These factors can include a malfunctioning vehicle part, a phantom vehicle, a defective roadway, and more.

Rollover Accidents

The National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA) reports that, while rollovers only account for around two percent of vehicle accidents, almost 35 percent of fatal crashes involve an overturned vehicle. One of the reasons that rollover crashes are so dangerous is that many vehicles lack the safety features necessary to keep drivers and passengers safe. Frequently, the roof of a vehicle is not strong enough to withstand an impact and can leave occupants with injuries they would have otherwise avoided. These are referred to as roof crush injuries.

In cases where vehicle manufacturers fail to ensure the safety of their product, they may be liable to pay for damages caused by their negligence. By pursuing a wrongful death claim, families are often able to recover compensation from manufacturers and other negligent parties. However, the payments available vary depending on the specific details of the accident. For this reason, it is always best to reach out to a local Anderson wrongful death lawyer to get advice before taking any action. A good lawyer will be able to provide you with the information you need about your situation and most will be happy to do so for free over the phone.
